Back From Stockhom With Tons Of Inspiration
Hi friends. I am back from my whirlwind trip to Stockholm equipped with new design inspiration and ideas. (Thank you to so many of you for your kind messages regarding my Mom. She is doing very well).
In my usual , energize-bunny-hopping way, I went straight from landing at the airport in Stockholm to the Formex Design Exhibition — the largest design meeting place in The Nordic. I had only four hours before they were going to shut the doors on this 4-day event and I had missed an entire night of sleep — but that did not stop me.
During those four hours I came across two FANTASTIC designers that I had teamed up with for my store. I will introduce you to them later in the week.
I also had a really fun chat with this handsome, witty and oh-so creative stylist — Jimmy Schonning. He has become a mega designer household name in Sweden thanks to his popular TV show about interiors and his endless design creativity.
(Yep, this is what I look like after a very long flight and no sleep. And you would have too!).

At the trade show, Jimmy’s wonderful, oversized bamboo pendants drew a lot of attention. Part of the lamps’ profits goes to an orphanage north of Bangkok for HIV effected children.
Sweden is jam packed with fabulous design. I am totally blown away, every time I go back.
Hello – even fire extinguishers for the home, now come in great designs! No longer any need to keep it hidden in the closet. (Jimmy Schonning designed one as well).
It is good to be back. I have lots of things to share and I am looking forward to seeing what my many blog friends are up to!

Hello! So good to know you are safely back home again.
Thank you again for our wonderful hours together in Stockholm. It was so nice to finally meet you in person and like you said, it felt far from our very first meeting. Soul sisters for sure!
I love the design treasures you have brought to the lime light here Mon. Jimmy is fab and I adore his over-sized bamboo lamp – especially when it is teamed with clean Scandi lines and Birch tree logs!
Looking forward to seeing more of your finds..

Oh I just love the natural wood …… I have also been on the hunt for a great farm table. This could be what I have in store. Easy enough to make…. gosh I love Swedish design!! The birch branches are to die for!!

Love the light but I feel like you’d need some massive space or incredibly tall ceilings to properly show that off in a dining room or kitchen. Also, those are great looking fire extinguishers- it’s true, always an item that gets hidden, the ubiquitous red extinguisher is so plain in contrast to the ones you found!

Välkommen hem! Jimmy, brilliant, he started a new career that has certainly taken off – we used to work together, he’s a great dancer and show-man (just look at that smile!) Little Shop of Horrors I think it was!! Funny.
Cant wait for more. In Stockholm even the smallest coffee shop is cleverly designed.

PS: the metro stations in Stockholm look amazing, very original. It’s great that people have the culture of walking. Whenever I travel I always eat more than I normally do at home, but I lose weight every single time, because I love getting around by foot.

Glad to hear you’ve had an inspiring trip and that your Mom is doing well! Goodness, how amazing that you got to meet Jimmy Schonning! I saw his home in a magazine recently and completely fell for the unique personality infused especially in his kitchen.
