Last Minute Easter Decorations

We were supposed to fly down to California for the annual Easter family gathering but since we are flying down twice this fall, one is for a family wedding (so much fun!), we opted to stay home this time. And when we do, we usually invite a few close families and turn it into a really fun and social feast. (But two of my close friends and regular Easter bunnies, Mariana and Pernilla, have moved back to Europe with their families — boo hoo!).

There will be great things to eat (and lots of Champagne!). And all the normal hopping fun activities for the kids.

I don’t get crazy into Easter decor but here are four things that I always do at my house:

O.N.E. Hang handmade carrots in the the chandelier (because it literally takes 5 seconds, ha!)

T.W.O.  Decorate my decoupaged branches (I used pages from an old book) with a few Easter ornaments

T.H.R.E.E. Showcase these lovely sheep, handmade by a Seattle artist.

Note: I have received several e-mails today about the sheep. They are handmade with real sheep wool. I buy them at Common Folk & Co. You can contact them directly here.

F.O.U.R. Use lost of fresh organic wheat/cat grass in which I place small Robins’ eggs

These ideas all caught my attention:

Decoupaged eggs (preferably Emu eggs). Hey, here I could use my mod-podge again and decorate eggs with lovely bird themed paper! If I am not running out of time I might actually try this. It seems so fun. The good thing is that the eggs can be used year after year. (Read more about the project here).

What a simple but pretty center piece. Lots of twigs with a few daffodils. I like it.

Easy and much appreciated table decorations, are these nests (you can get them at Michael’s) filled with chocolate eggs. (Invest in good chocolate, people!).

This weekend I was snooping around over at my happy & good friend Piper’s on-line store, One Sydney Road, and found some great items that I might need to put a rush order on for the festivities.

I need new napkins and I like them over-sized. These natural 100% linen tea towels would do the job! Hard to be an unhappy guest after being presented with this!

And I am also eyeing these handmade milk glass bottles. I  need a few. Perfect for all that sparkling water we serve at the dining table. And I like that they come with corks!

A little last minute Easter Galore from my end. Do you have any fun Easter plans?

Happy, Happy!

Tack för inspirations-bilderna. Kommer att sakna traditionen hemma hos dig…skulle kunna sätta mig på flyget bara för att ses för påskmiddagen!

Glad Påsk, hälsa familjen, vi hörs, kram

Hello lovely Mon! How are you? So fun to read about your Easter decorating traditions – like you, I don’t really go all out with the decorating at Easter (I make up for it at Christmas, though!). Thanks for sharing some other simple Easter decor ideas with us – those blue eggs in nests are beautifully stylish. Got me thinking!!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

Hello Monika :) Well, I guess my new tradition is checking in with YOU and seeing what you do to jazz up a space. No surprise I love it all! The carrot hanging is very similar to my icicle hanging at Christmas time. I’ve got to find me a bundle of carrots now!! I am sorry your best bunnies hopped away. That is so hard, I know. We will be going to Georgia to visit my husband’s family. I am loving that tea towel, I must keep that in mind if the mother-in-law is giving me a hard time!! :) Love, Kelly

  • I don’t do a lot of Easter decorating either, but will do a few things this week because I will be having my family for Easter Brunch after church. I love your decorations. The carrots in the chandelier and the sheep are so cute. Love the decoupaged tree and the decoupaged eggs are so pretty but no time to do those this year. I hope you have a wonderful Easter with your family.Mona

I love your Easter decorations. The carrots!! Never seen that, how genius-bet your kids love it. I’m always hesitant as to what to do and end up doing nothing…terrible. Growing up we had branches with feathers all over the house, but here in the states it’s rabbits pink and eggs!!

Simple is best I say, love the carrots on the chandelier!!! Janell

  • you know i can’t lie. everything you said after the image with the dangling carrots sounded like this to my brain “CARROTS ON A CHANDELIER! THEY LOOK REAL! THEY ATTRACT THE EASTER BUNNY! WE HAVE CHANDELIERS TOO! ETC.” sorry. that is just the sweetest tradition ever–you splendid design goddess, you.

our easter tradition is a treasure hunt inside our home for their baskets. each egg they find leads to another clue. i still put childish toys in their basket though they are men. it will be the first easter without our college guy so it will be hard. i’ll cry on my flight that night as I travel to be with my family in Arizona!

gorgeous ideas from a gorgeous hostess!

I’m in love with the sheep. How adorable. I don’t have any plans to decorate for Eastern yet. I’m planning to start with the remodeling of one of our bathrooms and I guess there is not going to be much room for decorating this weekend. For sure I’ll display flowers around the house.

Love what you did in your home.

  • Wonderful ideas, Mon! Love your decoupage branches with nest+bird, so cute! And carrots on a chandelier – COOL! I’m going to store these ideas for the future, when there are little minds to entertain :)

Have a lovely week ahead, my lovely!

  • Love those carrots Mon! How cute! Your decorations are fabulous. I think Easter is at my parents home this year so I probably won’t do too much decorating, but I need to save some of this to my inspiration folders for next year!
