Garbo Interiors and “Ebba & Jag” – Two Stores To Visit

Hello friends! I could go on and on about my trip to Stockholm and virtually drag you to every interesting street and shop but I don’t want to bore you with too much Stockholm talk. Ok, just one one more post….!

There are literally a zillion fun stores in Stockholm but today I am going to share two of my “secret” shops that are must visits for me whenever I go back to my old hometown — Garbo Interiors and Ebba & Jag (“Ebba and I”). None of them are painfully flashy, overly trendy, nor intimidating stores. I just find them interesting, tasteful, inviting and filled with unique things.

Garbo Interiors is located in my Mom’s neighborhood, Ostermalm, a lovely and classy downtown neighborhood filled with many nice design destinations.

Garbo Interiors offers classic high-end Swedish antiques and vintage furniture mixed with lovely accessories for the home. This store has many followers among interior designers and stylists. And rightfully so. It is just a gorgeous store!

Ebba & Jag is situated in Sodermalm, the neighboord where I was staying on my recent trip. I love this happening area which is filled with vibrant and funky stores and good places to eat.

Ebba & Jag is more of a lifestyle store and the lovely owner Mona and I have connected over the years and always give each other warm hugs when I pay a visit. (And we both just learned that one of Mona’s close friend’s happens to be one of my big brother Erik’s old girlfriend’s who we loved and viewed as part of our family! A crazy small world!).

Mona mixes Swedish antiques and vintage furniture with fashion from young Swedish designers and a bunch of other things she likes from around the world. I buy something every single time I visit this store and I always bring back a fashion item as a gift to my dear girlfriend Stacey in Seattle.

On my last trip I came home with several pieces of clothing by the Swedish brand Melmelli. These thin, high quality long cotton tunics are super comfortable and and look fabulous on. I have been wearing these tunics a lot this summer.

So, when you visit Stockholm — please don’t miss these two lovely stores. And if you meet Mona with “Ebba & Jag”, make sure to say hi from me!

Tusen tack for these Stockholm insider tips my dear!
Both sound wonderful, in fact I think I know Garbo but ‘Mona & Jag’ is new and will be a destination for me when I am there in a week’s time. How fun. I will report back!

And just so you know, you can go on about Stockholm for ever in my mind. I love it when you talk Sweden! :)

    xx C

Oh, someday I have to go to Stockholm to visit Garbo Interiors. It looks so beautiful in photos – it must be even more beautiful in real life. I’ve also written about it on my blog.

And before I go :-) I have to say that I find your blog very inspirational. I have made so many discoveries through it!

  • Greet says:

It is a store for me!!! I want to go with you!!! I love that Swedish painted (blue/white) cabinet! Fabulous!!

  • Style Attic says:

WOW, it is a crazy small world! I just wish it was a little smaller and more feasible for me to check this wonderful place out myself. I have always found the Swedish to be very forward thinking, the design of everything intended and executed so lovely. And then it gets left alone to stand on it’s own and it’s just breathtaking! Nothing is cluttered up and the color or lack of is spot on. Love, love, love :) XO, Kelly

  • Carole says:

I love those tunics Mon! I guess I’ll have to go to Sweden to get one.

  • Janell Beals says:

This was nearly a painful post to read, so much loveliness and soooooooo far away!! Love the gray and white interiors and I spy a couple fabulous chandeliers…sigh.

  • Bianca says:

    I want Mona’s outfit!!!!! BADLY!!!

  • kiki alvord says:

Vilka kalasbutiker!!!
    Kram kiki

  • Mon, I am drooling over everything. Both shops are a delight for the eyes and Mona is so stylish and beautiful. Those handbags and the last outfit you featured knocked my breath away a little.

    Please, more from your trip!

    love, Donna

  • kiki alvord says:

Dhuuuuhhh! If I had checked them out before my comment I would have seen I was right. I have met these very nice girls a few times and shopped from them too.
Anyway I’ll learn however slowly it seems, and I forgot to say I love those handbags at Ebbas, both style and color.
    cheers! KIKI

Monika, I live your blog via your eyes so I don’t have to go back to Sweden for a few more months . . now the only thing missing is places to eat in Stockholm. Maybe I have to do that post :)

  • SST says:

The scarf is so beautiful, it seems even more so, now that I see where it came from, thank you again. I am looking at the tunic that goes with it and knowing that we need to plan that extended girls weekend in Stockholm.

  • The Zhush says:

Love small world stories…and thinking/knowing I would love Stockholm! That armoir with the blue diamonds is amazing…ditto the image with all the bird prints!

  • paula says:

I have been oohing and ahhing over every last image.

  • So fun and fabulous the things you have been sharing from your trip. Obviously we all want to go. I saved the picture of the light gray painted wall cabinet. The finish was just perfect. Don’t know if my faux fnisher can achieve that level of perfection though. sigh!

  • Someday….!
    I bet you look like
    a doll in those tunics : )!
I LOVE the picture of the
    dining room with the
    bird prints ~ it’s so
ME and it makes me smile
    that you liked it, too.
    Don’t hold back on the
    Swedish trip posts ~ I
    myself think they are great!

    Great tip!
You have really opened my eyes for Swedish antiques and the way to mix´em up with modern style!

    Trevlig helg!

Tror jag kan skriva på svenska hos dig=))
Det var helt lugnt att låna bilden med skolplanscher.
    Bara kul!

Det måste jag kolla nästa gång jag är i Stockholm.

  • Oh my, Monika! No wonder you completely fell for this shop — how fantastic it is. I would be in heaven here — having such a passion for boutiques and also for this style — how beautiful… okay, next time, I will try to sneak into your suitcase — must come along for the ride!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend, my friend! Oh, and about your rainboots — they are the MOST chic of all :)

  • Oh what LOVELY stores!! Great images and great finds. Looks like I need to plan my trip to Sweden ASAP! Thank you for sharing.

  • Love them both. I could, in fact, happily move into the Garbo Interiors (they wouldn’t mind, would they?), and I could totally wear what the mannequin is wearing – every single piece would suit me to a T. Beautiful..! I’m so glad you took photographs and are sharing bits and pieces of your trip..!
