Nate Berkus Never Gets Boring

Yes, we have followed him in every design magazine and on Oprah, handsome, Mr. Nate Berkus. And I was not going to do yet another post on his portfolio. But going through his images – I saw a few photos that I have not seen before. So here we go – eye candy from the very talented Nate Berkus. (Take your time – and pay attention to the details. I love his designs, because they do not feel designed and contrived. They are warm, inviting, eclectic and personal with unexpected twists. Just the way I like it).

Like it all.

This must be Nate’s signature photo. It is wonderful. (And it is from his home).

Same with this one.

The leather panels are beautiful. And I always love an over sized ottoman. Great for books, great for parties. And how fun in yellow! Who would have thought. Think out of the box, people!

I am on the hunt for 2 great, classic leather club chairs myself. These would make me very happy!

The more I look at this image, the more I like it. At first I could not figure out why. But I think it is the balance, the choice of colors and different textures. And I love the  tall white sculpture on the mantel.

Those Giacometti lamps are so stunning. Not much else is needed.

I am so into leather nowadays. Must be because I am tired of chocolate fingerprints from 2 little hands x 3 on everything covered with fabric!

Love it all. We had shades just like that in our SF apartment. I dragged home gray linen from Sweden for 12 windows of that size. The linen fabric actually cost very little, but let’s not talk about the cost to have them custom made…

The wall color is fantastic. And so is the chair. And the table. And the rug.

What a fantastic blue accent color combined with gray. I would not have thought of it myself.

I drool over the dining chairs! And yes the seats are covered with leather! And what a lovely seating area in the background to hang out with friends before & after a great dinner. Imagine this whole area lit with candles/lanterns. I would be the last guest to leave!

Have a Lovely Weekend Friends!

Objects Of Desire – In White

It must be the long, dark months ahead here in Seattle (not to mention in Sweden!) that give me an urgent need to brighten my home as much as possible. And right now I am swooning over these white objects. They can move in with me any time!

You have most likely seen these vessels several times before. They don’t tire me. I absolutely love these modern pieces by Sara Paloma and I am now ready for my own little collection of pottery that she describes as the “LA skyline”.

Yes, they have been featured in many design magazines but I don’t care! They are still so lovely to me! These beautiful feather headdresses, so called Juju hats, are handmade in Cameroon and worn by prominent members of society, as well as Juju dancers. I love the organic feel and the round shape. They come in many lovely colors but a white one will be moving in with me soon. I have a perfect spot for it in my living room.

Shady Tree is this lovely pendant from DutchDesign.  It is designed by Nicolette Brunklaus. The shade is lined with woodland imagery that appears when the light is switched on, casting a rich range of lovely shadows.

Here is a mirror (“Mirror Mirror”), also from DutchDesign that I think is so much fun. Simply gaze into this mirror and get something to read while you are styling your hair. The text is engraved on a special mirror glass surface, offering optimum reflective coverage.

Jonathan Adler’s scented Muse Blanc Candle is set in a a porcelain vessel that glows as the candle burns. After the candle is gone, the vessel makes for a perfect flower vase. The candle is 3.5″ high.

The Facetta bowls from Kähler are so beautiful. A nice lamp and this bowl are all you need on your chest of drawers. The bowl is designed by Søren Thygesen from Denmark. The bowls are available in three sizes. They can be purchased from Illums Bolighus among other stores.

Also from Illums Bolighus are these classy candleholders crafted in brass, plated with 24 carat gold, from Georg Jensen. They are designed by Regitze Overgaard. Aren’t they lovely together with white candles? This image is going into my personal style file!

And here are two bedrooms with plenty of white to recharge any sun deprived body & soul. (Images from Skona Hem).

Happy Monday lovely blog friends!

Object Of Desire

I am not a jealous person at heart. Far from it. But I am a tad envious of this fabulous Salvation Army find. This chest of drawers just makes me drool. The lucky owners have the best home for the dresser that nobody saw or wanted.  I am so going to pay a visit to a local consignment shop this weekend. Wish you all could come with me!

Lovely Bedrooms

This post is for Sophie in France who I have had the great pleasure to get to know via this amazing blog world. She is putting in hardwood floors in her master bedroom, which I so salute, and was looking for inspiration in terms of rugs and hardwood floor combinations and color schemes. Sophie, here are some of my personal faves and I hope that you might find something that inspires you!

I love everything about this room! And this carpet/rug like would look fantastic on any kind of hardwood floors. (I personally would have picked a contemporary bed light but that is just me).

A like the balance of the rug and the wooden floors here. I am always a frozen Popsicle when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I want to do is to step on cold hardwood floors (but I’d rather take that than wall-to-wall carpeting that is not appealing to me for many reasons). This allows me to wake up during a few steps before I hit the wood! (But I guess as plan B, I could resort to some good slippers…)

Since you live close to Paris Sophie, invest in a nice old bust. It is still on my wish list!

This is the bedroom of the famous designer Darryl Carter. I absolutely love, love this room! Look at all the wonderful details – and yet it does not feel contrived. The leather doors as panels are amazing.

Now here is another great solution. Large cow hides one each side instead of carpets.

No carpet at all. But the image with eclectic furnishings was so lovely that I had to show it anyway!

If you are looking for more color, then here is a room to be happy in.

I know that Sophie’s wall color is more towards yellow/gold. I think this room is wonderful. Both organic and chic. (And the beautiful throw ties it all together).

Fresh and crisp. And large rugs on each side. Don’t skimp on the rugs, people!

Vicente Wolf is another fantastic designer who knows what he is doing. I have a crush on that iconic leather chair.

Wow! A secret bedroom in the bedroom!

Borderline too conservative for me. But oh so pretty. And I love the texture of the rug.

Just add a splash of color – and you have a new room.

Chic indeed. And the wonderful wall display in the background needs to be copied.

How lovely with a large and functional seating/conversation area in the grand master bedroom.

Now, dear blog friends – any bedroom that you fancy?

Halloween Decorations

Pumpkins and ghosts. We are gearing up for Halloween in our neighborhood. My beautiful girls have kindly asked me “if I could be a little bit more scary with our Halloween props”. Forget that! I am not into skeletons, grave yards and chopped off fingers. But I did invest in 12 new furry rats and 2 large bats!

The leaves outside our home are turning into rich fall colors. I love fall!

Inside the house I do not decorate that much. But we have had this Halloween tree for years. You may call it tacky, yes, go ahead! – but we love it! It is so festive and fun. All the ornaments are handmade.

Call me lazy, but this is all I musted for this year’s Halloween. (Although I pulled out strings of orange mini lights for the boxwood hedges).

No skeleton here folks. Only feathers.

Here are a few of our new furry friends!

Charlie kept me company while I was battling pumpkins, crows and rats.

Now I am ready for all those hords of trick or treaters!

Next year I might try these brilliant Halloween decorations. (Below).

Ghostly portraits. How fun is that!

Felt bats of different sizes covering the front entrance. Simple but dramatic.

The first image and the 2 last are from Country Living.
